2017年，我的高中同學Dave得了ALS，就是之前通過“冰桶挑戰”得全球關注的肌萎縮側索硬化症(ALS),又稱”漸凍人症”。
到現在他只能坐輪椅行動，說話也不順暢了。他曾經一表人才，也是我們的班長，是最優秀的學生之一。
由於ALS目前還是沒有藥物可以治療，平均病症大約3年，所以他也做好了心理準備。
我的同學他有三個非常可愛的女兒，年紀都很小。在面臨即將要離開這個世界的Dave，有一天他寫了一封信送給他的女兒們，也和我分享了信的內容，並問我是否可以把它做成一首歌。這封信是他想對他三個女兒說的話，雖然他可能沒有辦法陪著她們長大，但他希望他的女兒們永遠都有爸爸，永遠都有父愛。
他寫了這首歌《Forever Your Dad》，歌詞很感人，從現在女兒都很小，到每一個人生的里程碑，雖然他沒有辦法見證這一切，但是他希望女兒們可以記住爸爸一直都在，爸爸的愛也在，聽到這首歌都可以抬起頭知道爸爸在看著她們。
歌詞裡面提到了人生的好幾個階段：讀書、考試、第一次談戀愛、第一次學習開車、高中畢業、大學畢業、結婚等等。
由於Dave很喜歡鄉村音樂，所以我用鄉村音樂的方式創作了這首歌，雖然是英文的但是我相信國內的朋友們都可以感受到歌詞的含義。
生老病死是每一個人都會經歷的過程，希望大家都可以充滿愛的度過每一天。
現在疫情當前，武漢市金銀潭醫院院長張定宇也是身患ALS，卻還依然堅守在抗疫一線。也向張定宇院長表達敬意！
在創作這首歌的時候我的感受是非常溫暖和感動，雖然每個人的生活都會有遺憾，都會有沒有辦法控制的結局，但希望我們心裡有愛，我們也選擇愛，選擇溫暖和希望，這就是這首歌想要傳達的能量。
人生就算是在面對最不願面對的結果時，我們都能用包容且充滿樂觀與愛的態度去面對。
